It was a good weekend both in socializing with people and with other dogs. My friend Troy came over with his two swissies. Lots of fun ensued…

Today Zen got her first bath.

It was a little weird but she was great.

More Play. This time with a Stick.

Today was her first vet visit and she’s clocking in on the smaller side. She only weighs 9.5 pounds at 9 weeks. I guess Zen PIXIE is aptly named! The vet wants to up her food a bit. He wants to see her again on the 5th and we’ll do a urine analysis then to see if how her urinary track is fairing.

Other than that it was a full day of activities. We went to parvo safe environments. First our friend’s house to meet some of maiwenn’s friends.

Maiwenn had swim class so she got to nap in the travel crate during our lunch.

Then she had her lunch in the back of the Outback.

And finally some more napping.

This is what we had last night.

Around 3pm Zen started straining while trying to pee with very little output. This constant piddling with nothing coming out progressively got worse until 9pm at night when we decided to take her in to the Emergency vet because we were so worked up about it. Turns out she does have a UTI and they gave her antibiotics for it.

I had written our breeder before we had made the decision but as she is on east coast time.. she didn’t get it right away. By the time we made the decision to go it was way too late to call. We called her this morning and it was obvious this happens all the time and there were more holistic methods that could have been applied. We feel pretty stupid. But ah well. We learned.

Good news is, she’s doing MUCH better crating up. Here’s some photos:

I have to say, those eyes make her look more calculating and observing. I really like them, but we are already getting funny comments from people. “Weird” or “haunting” or “striking”…
